Edinburgh, UK, January 21 2013 - Trust Housing Association has become the first Scottish Housing Association to achieve Investors in Diversity (IID) accreditation, demonstrating the association’s commitment to becoming a nationally-recognised leader on equality and diversity issues.
Trust was granted the accreditation following an Initial Review by the National Centre for Diversity, and is now celebrating a landmark achievement as the first housing association in Scotland to obtain the prestigious quality mark.
IID accreditation is awarded to organisations that can demonstrate an all-encompassing and effective approach to managing equality, diversity and inclusion. Administered by the National Centre for Diversity, the scheme helps organisations to achieve an inclusive culture in which every employee can succeed and feel valued, and in which every client receives fair and equal treatment, regardless of their background.
The National Centre for Diversity commented on Trust’s achievements in its Initial Review Report:
“The CEO, Board and senior team are genuinely committed to Equality and Inclusion...The action plan they have created is visionary and practical.”

The National Centre for Diversity said that Trust, which has its own award-winning Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team, has already established a leading reputation within the social housing sector for supporting people from black and ethnic minority backgrounds and older tenants.
Trust, which will undergo a Full Review in 2013, is now focused on broadening its expertise to cover more areas and on implementing measures to ensure that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is enshrined as an organisational-wide responsibility.
